Who are we?
By way of introduction, the fat hairy bloke is the webmaster, Dave Tipper, Mechanical Engineer, Ford Cortina addict and
boating maniac, the gorgeous blonde is my wife, Pamela and the big green thing is Arwen, a 56' Sandpiper with full trad stern,
built by the Liverpool Boat Co. and supplied via The New Boat Co., Hanbury Wharf, Droitwich.
Why "Arwen", you ask? Originally, I wanted to call her "The Old Profanity Showboat" in honour of The Greatest English Eccentric
Who Ever Lived, but I was persuaded by the wife to call her "Arwen". Lord of the Rings buffs will understand...
What's it all about, then?
As I said in the intro, when I first started boating, I was a bit overwhelmed by the information that was being thrown
at me from all sides. I decided to set this site up to share my experiences and the wisdom of my boating cronies to
help anyone out there who keen to get on to the inland waterways but is a bit unsure of what to do. At the moment, the
site is under construction, but should grow over the next few weeks into something useful. We also publish a weekly
newsletter to keep you informed of what's going on in the world of canals. Why not sign up? It's free and occasionally
amusing! By the way, we hate spam with a vengeance, so don't panic, we don't pass your details on to anyone whatsoever.
